O’Brien Van der Steen Workshops were appointed by The Drewsteignton Community Society to prepare and submit Planning and Listed Building Consent applications for the repair, upgrading and minor alteration of the Grade II* listed Drewe Arms public house and its curtilage-listed Long Room.
Following a successful community-led campaign, the pub was purchased in 2023 to secure its future as a vital community hub. Our involvement has focused on specifying and overseeing fabric repairs and sensitive improvements to support its ongoing use, with future phases including the refurbishment of the flat above the pub, as well as works to the bunk house events spaces and improved landscaping.
The project ensures that this much-loved building remains at the heart of village life, balancing heritage conservation with the needs of a thriving community asset.
