Set within the historic precinct of Buckfast Abbey, Buckfast Methodist Chapel, listed Grade 2, sits within the Scheduled area of the Abbey, designated in 2000. O’Brien Van der Steen Workshops worked closely with Historic England and the Chapel to secure Scheduled Monument Consent for a thoughtful programme of small-scale landscaping improvements.
The completed works transform the approach to the chapel, making it more welcoming and accessible for the congregation and wider public. A new ramp, carefully regraded steps and a raised porch floor provide a comfortable, level route into the building ensuring everyone is able to take part in worship and the community life of the Chapel.
