The renovation and extension of a much altered 1930’s moorland edge bungalow.
The proposals remove two infill and wrap around extensions replaced with with a single wing that extends the original pitched roof volume of the living room facing south over the Moor to form a vaulted dining room and working studio. Large sliding glazed doors open on to a terrace and frame spectacular views of the Moor beyond.
The extension is constructed of a locally sourced sawn larch timber frame, wood fibre insulation, and sinusoidal corrugated cladding. The project involved the upgrading of the thermal performance of the living areas of the house by adding new insulation in the roof and new, high performance windows.
