SKOLA Ironmongery
2017 – 2018
Location: The Rustaveli Theatre, Tbilisi, Georgia
Type: Furniture & Fittings
After extensive research as to the available products for fixtures and fittings, both locally in Georgia and through importation, we found it was both more cost effective and possible to achieve a high quality of finish to design and fabricate bespoke brass and copper ironmongery.
Working closely with local artisans and craftsmen, we developed a range of pieces including door handles, taps, sinks, light fittings, napkin holders and switch plates. Old toggle switches were sourced from the local market builders market, Eliava.
Using old lamps reclaimed from the industrial warehouses on the outskirts of Tbilisi, we designed new brass caps that allowed these lamps to be hung at various heights from the ceiling in groups.
